Our Unit 1 assignment was to make a video that shares our context and what makes it complex and connected.

The process of making my video was personally therapeutic. My life has changed significantly in the past few years and part of why I wanted to do this course was to give myself time and space to process these changes, to reflect and think about where I might want to go next. The video was an invitation to do just that. And while I didn’t include all of that processing in the final video, it does feel meaningful to have it as a reflection and a record of this time.
Sharing it with people I’m close to has also been surprisingly powerful. Several commented that they felt honoured to see something so intimate, which surprised me. What I was worried would come across as navel-gazing, others seemed to interpret as generous. It made me aware of just how much I hadn’t communicated with people close to me and sharing these thoughts have led to meaningful conversations, which have further shifted and enriched my perspective.
